The weather is finally starting to warm up a bit, so I thought I better finally try tossing the kayaks up on the ladder rack just to make sure there are no surprises. I'm happy to report that everything worked great! What's really nice about this ladder rack is that it is quickly removable, leaving behind only the aluminum rails that it mounts to. I don't leave the ladder rack on, so my firs...
Well my first official roadtrip with my 22 Touring is in the books. About 560 miles in one day. Was supposed to be 2 but found my destination (Forks, Washington) runs hotels on limited capacity 20 rooms or so in the off season so you cant trust the website. (My bad for not calling). I had initially went down to look at a potential new cab for my 1954 GMC i am building but half way there it g...
Thought I would share this; I had a seniors moment and left my locking gas cap at the gas station after a fill up. We then drove three hours of freeway driving to meet up with friends. Only when we got out of the Jeep did I smell fuel. Opened the filler door and discovered the missing cap! I then stuffed a rag into the filler neck to get us back home. Returned to...
Took our first real road trip over the weekend. Drove from central Mass to Stowe Vt for a couple of days. The Palisade performed really well for us. Some observations - I got enough highway time to really get familiar with the driving aids with the cruise control on. The lane keeping and following distance tools work very well. Mileage for the weekend was 25.5 according to theu...
Did a Long weekend trip with the Hitch Cargo Tray loaded. We were 4 adults traveling with backpacks and stuff loaded in the standard cargo area behind the rear seats; and mostly camping gear in the Cargo tray which I covered with a waterproof bag and secured with straps. I can say my Venue performed great. According to the trip computer Fuel burn was 5.9liter per 100 km = 38.8669 Mile...
I have had my SC SEL for a little of three months - all around town driving until this week. I have averaged 23.8 mpg over about 1500 miles, mostly in Normal mode, but have been in Smart mode for the last three weeks. I have installed the hood deflector and a mesh grill in the front opening below the bumper. This week, I did a road trip to my cabin in the White Mountains - about 135 miles. I...
Hi Just finished a very long trip up north about 3800 miles round trip over 10 days. Changed my 2.4 oil at 32,000 miles and set off. The car ran great not one misstep the whole journey. Discovered the greatest iphone trip app WAZE saved our ass many times. Even alerts to cops hiding down the road. I checked the catch can before leaving it had 3500 miles on that oil chang...
I was doing some trail riding this past week in the Ouray and Silverton, CO areas. We drove Yankee Boy Basin, Clear Lake trail, and Imogene Pass trails. Portions of the trails were very steep on narrow cliffs and on loose rock. I was driving in 4 low for much of these trails. I turned on the Hill Descent Control on the downhill portions and it really helps. I could completely take my f...
Finally towed my Casita camper with my Frontier. Went over to Sullivan IL and camped at Bo Woods COE on lake Shelbyville. Drove 60 MPH in overdrive (flat roads in Indiana and IL) and averaged 15.5 MPG. Total weight around 3500 lbs. ::smile::
I was driving through the mountains and I stumbled on this cool waterfall. My first thought, let me grab a few photos for the folks on the Forum! Not bad for a phone pic...
Well, as most everyone knows, I edged him out drag racing by a slim margin. But a win is a win. Today was a chance to autox. Now for the record, he his on Wilwood 6/4 piston brakes, upgraded front and rear sways, swift springs and has 2+ seasons of autox. I am on wrx takeoffs, stock brakes, and a sti oem rear sway. So the outcome is one sided, as the mods are not equal, or nearly as equal as...
Since it was such a gorgeous day I decided to take a day trip to various points on the Rhode Island shore. Took a few pics of the GT at various stops. Unfortunately on my way home I turned into Foxwoods Casino. Won 70.00 on the roulette table in about 30 minutes....then pissed it all way plus my original 50.00 on blackjack....lol. Oh well easy come, easy go. Stops are in Watch Hill, W...
I was crusing down I-10 in Mississippi yesterday when a GT500 pulled up along side of me an acted like he wanted to race. The guy kept speeding up and slowing down and finnally I thought what the hell lets see how my car stacks up against a GT500. I dropped down to 3rd at 75mph and floored it an to my surprise I pulled away like the 500 hit a brick wall. Well long story short I had the...
