Took our first real road trip over the weekend. Drove from central Mass to Stowe Vt for a couple of days. The Palisade performed really well for us. Some observations -
I got enough highway time to really get familiar with the driving aids with the cruise control on. The lane keeping and following distance tools work very well.
Mileage for the weekend was 25.5 according to theu cars calculations. Pretty decent for the size of the Palisade, I am comfortable with that.
We drove to the top of Mt Mansfield, the highest point in Vermont. This is where the Stowe ski area is, there is an access road you can follow to one if the summits. Gravel road, lots of twists and turns, uphill all the way. I used the AWD lock, tires never spun, felt very well planted. It's a narrow road, no guardrails, and some steep drops off the edge, so need to be careful. Max altitude is just over 4000 feet.
Coming down, you need to use low gear, or you will burn the brakes, it is 4 miles of down hill, To get it to hold first gear, I had to put it in sport mode. Otherwise, it kept switching back to Drive, and starting to run away. Going up or down, it never seemed to work very hard, engine temp stayed right at normal.
