Today I fitted the adjustable air shocks I bought to have additional leveling on the rear. I was already upgrading my full suspension with new parts and stuff.I added a lift At the rear and front of about 2.5” For the rear lift I already looked into some air bags from a Grand Cherokee. But I had to cut and fabricate to much to make it fit. So I looked into adjustable shock...
I did not realize the i20N that I love so much is a beam axle just like my LXS. I just assumed it was independent rear suspension. I really do love beam axles when it comes to handling. Seems like it makes the car more fun and tossable.
I am taking the plunge. Time for front struts. The rear shocks were replaced a few months ago at the dealership so you can feel the difference between the front and rear. I am also getting an occasional rattle up front. Already replaced the front sway bar end links and the control arm bracket bushings at the dealership under warranty. I went over the front end a couple of weeks ago and could...
Just a quick post about air bags for the back of a truck. Its been 2 years since i installed my AirLift 5000 in the back of the truck. the reason is i have anywhere from an empty truck to a bed full of fresh cut oak, to pulling a 8-9k trailer, to bringing lumber home. with air bags, the truck sits PERFECTLY level and rides great at every load. just today, i brought home just ov...
Brought my 07 vert in for an oil change before being stored for the Winter. Was told I needed new ball joints. Total estimate around 900.00. Long story short...I have insurance with GEICO who offered "mechanical breakdown insurance" when I first purchased my car. Far less expensive than an extended warranty. I called them, and not only were they covered but I was able to upgrade to th...
Is there anything that can be done to protect the front lower control arm mounts on the frame side? Mine are getting fairly abused on the rocks. I see axle side armor, but that hasn’t been an issue so far for me.
I'm not going to go into specifics on the install but I'll mention a few things that I ran into along the way. The front was pretty straight forward the only somewhat pain was removing the cowl and wiper tray to get to the strut tower bolts. If you see a small black 10mm bolt remove it. There's like 12. Once that was done the rest was pretty easy. Don't forget to plug the wiper h...
Finally got these installed this week. I love the stance and squat as well as the firmer ride. It should settle about a 1/2 inch or so, getting wheel alignment done later next week. Before: After:
Installed Truxxx 2" lift kit. Pretty easy to install as long as you have a helping hand. So far I'm happy with the results. I created install videos for those who what to attempt to install themselves. The front suspension is a little more difficult than the rear. Pretty straight forward. Front Suspension Rear Suspension
just got done installing these new coilover i order took about 3 months to receive them. the quality looks great and they fit great also since my last post i have added rv6 j-pipe, weathertech rain visors, roof rack and the 2010-13 rear bumper.
After installing a small spacer lift, I reinstalled my shocks (Fox 2.0 IFP) and really tightened the bolts down. After several weeks (slow on the uptake) driving around wondering why it rode so rough, I realized the front suspension wasn’t compressing much if at all, and loosened the upper and lower bolts enough to allow more bushing flex. It does compress now, but still seems f...
So I got my SR Lowering springs in and started the install this past weekend. Front 2 springs went in fine. Then I came across a frozen bolt/bushing in one of the rear sway bar links. Heading to a shop this week to get it out and ordering a new bar link/bushing. Funny story is that I didn't realize I had taken out RTR lowering springs already on car!!! I know... I know... I'm an idiot but I...
I just got my 0.75” spacer pucks to level up the front of the Jeep, and the instructions say to disconnect the shocks and steering stabilizer, and drop the whole axle. Has anyone just used a spring compressor instead to create the gap? It seems a lot simpler. Is there a downside I am not considering?
Hi, I put AT 205 Re-seal on my all-by rubber bushings so that they wouldn't crack. I sprayed it on and checked on my bushing after a couple of hours and it seems like it worked in making the bushing more pliable. I let it soak in on my rusty rear control arm bushings and when I checked back on it the bushings were actually much more pliable. I would think this would make the bushing l...
I love these coilovers. They make the car look more like a hatch than a CUV.
The OME that cane with my AEV 2.5 lift seemed to be getting bad. Early morning on cold tires, I would get some shimmy/vibration in the steering wheel. Was not as smooth as new. Did the install in about just over a hour. Not only is the shimmy gone, its steers much more easier and zero feedback on bumps.
Well, the weather has finally cooled enough here in the Fort Stinking Hole Desert Indian Reservation for me to install the new KYB Strut-Plus loaded struts that I bought during the rebate offer back in May. (The highs here are now “only” a little over 100. Sheesh!) I was a bit apprehensive of the Impala possibly acquiring the "lifted look" that some had previously reported, but needn’...
