i might have mentioned that i do detailing and paint correction as a hobby for family, friends, and the occasional client. i thought i would share some of my techniques with my fellow TLX members. take from it what you will, i know some people wouldn't go to this extent but some small changes in how you wash your car can prevent marring or those fine lines you typically see on darker cars....
So I had the chance to get my car out on the track today! First time either of us has been on a drag strip. I burned some rubber and had some fun. My first pass of the day was 13.594 which seemed way to quick and after getting back to the line they told me it was incorrect. They recalibrated or whatever they had to do and we were good to go. I made 9 passes total and my best three actual tim...
Great time southoccarsandcoffee today with the TourX! So glad to see it get some love from the car crowd!
I did three 1/8 mile runs a couple weeks ago just to test out the Dragy and was able to get the following numbers with a 6spd on 205/55/16 Kumho Solus all season tires. I was at level 5 on 87 octane. I had no traction for the 1st and 2nd but third was good and I got out of the gas early since I did not realize I had not finished the 1/8th mile yet. 9.52s at 76.5mph 60ft 2.42s...
Her first wash since I purchased her on 03/24. Pretty sad as starting next week we are off our A/B schedule at work so the miles on her will be racking up. My commute is 104 miles round trip, 5 days a week.
been meaning to do a engine detail for a while now, I've never cleaned it since I bought it so that is call it 1.5 years roughly. I don't use water when I detail engines especially on newer cars where there are so many sensors and ecu's etc. got started so first thing I did was go around all the nooks and crannies with a cheap hand held steamer. this works pretty good because you...
I've put some carbon fiber vinyl on various shiny exterior bits and in the process of washing and waxing the paint, some wax got onto the vinyl. With the 3m 1080 CF vinyl it has a physical depth to it, just enough to really catch the wax and hold it. I tried a few de-greasers but the wax remained. Read about using peanut butter so I taped off the paint (no need to remove the wax ther...
Last year I went twice (got 6 passes in total). Ran a best of 14.2 at 99. Going tomorrow night; weather should be nice, 60s and overcast... New mods since those runs: 4.10s, Underdrive Pullies, Bama Tune (93 race), and a slight driver mod since I have some passes under my belt and know how to launch my car (granted not with the 4.10s at the track). Tires are sucky all seasons (...
The mustang club I'm in (LMMC of CT) had are annual 100 mile spring cruise this past Sunday. Weather was great with blue skys and 85 degrees. We had about 70 mustangs on the cruise. It was a great day. Posted a little video from the cruise. You can also get a little taste how my new long tubes and o/r H pipe sound.
Photos of our first 2012 meet. As you can see we were at BMO Field.
So I went to Mark's Classic Cruise which they have in East Granby, CT every Monday evening. Was my 2nd week in a row attending. Last week they had 928 cars but not sure what this week's count is yet....it was right up there though. It was also Corvette Night....so there had to be at least 200 Corvettes there. Mustang Night is next month. They always have some great classic cars...
Pam and I hit the track today, for what I hoped would be some good side by side action. We stage and she jumps off the line like I figured she would, on her way to a 12.95 @ 104. I went [email protected] thinking really!, why is the LGT so slow. So, we allow the cars to cool down and make another pass, she goes 13.0 and I go 14.0 Im way confused now, wondering if switching from stock whee...
Took it to the track tonight. temp was 75 degrees. Here is a comparison from stock to stage 2 stock [email protected] 2.01-60 foot. air temp 50 stage 2 14.2@95 1.86-60 foot. air temp 75 I was notto happy with the results. But I know the air temp has alittle to do with it. Next set of times will be on a VF48/08 STI tmic on race gas.....Hopefully this f...
I attended a small Mustang show today, approximately 30 Mustangs. At the trophy ceremony I won something that many people on here will find to be a hoot if they remember some of my initial posts when I first purchased my GT. Remember when I said I would NEVER detail my own car ? That I would always PAY to have the professionals do my deatailing. Well as you now know, I detail my own car...
Weather was great....had a blast. Excellent show. Here are 15 pics from the show that I selected. Was going to post in Show and Shine but that seemed to be all car detailing topics...
