New Movie: TPMS Saga Part 2 or How I Hate Government Intervention

Wheels Upgrade / Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems written by @FuzzyDice 2007 Mustang GT Convertible (Ford Mustang 2007)

Well I thought my Tire Pressure Monitoring System adventure was over but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I took my car to my dealership to have the rim balancing tweaked on the Hunter Road Force machine and also wanted them to check the bands/sensors on one rim because I was hearing this clicking sound.

He didn't take the whole tire off because he was afraid their machine would take a ding out of my new rim so he just let the air out and pushed the sidewall in to see the sensor. He told me it seemed like the band was tight from what he saw, so they decided to start the balancing.

So he tries to balance and they call me in and he tells me the Road Force machine keeps telling him to add weight. And he says it's because it sounds like something is rolling around inside the tire. He spins the tire with his hand and sure enough I can hear it (probably the same thing that is causing the clicking sound). So they can't get the balance perfect because of this and he tells me this machine can get rid of even the most minute vibration.

So I call Route 10 tire and I am dropping the car off Monday after work and having him get rid of these ludicrous bands and sensors. So it will be 60.00 for them to remove all 4 tires, remove the bands and sensors and re-mount the tires. THEN I go back to my dealership on Wednesday at 3:30 pm to have the Road Force balancing done.....another 80.00.

So after all this is done, I will just live with whatever warning light remains on in the dash. That is infinitely better than having the balancing of the rims not be right because of these dumbass sensor things.

So anyone who has a 2007+ that is changing rims, perhaps you can learn from my experiences. Screw the TPMS and save yourself some money and several headaches.

At least my dealership was nice enough to not charge me a cent for today's diagnosis. I'm certainly glad I bought my Mustang from them.

Oh what a tangled web we weave..........
