Here we are, on the eve of WEKFEST, with the completion and installation of the carbon aero and the new style LC.
Yesterday, the background music was METALLICA, but today, let's amp it up with X's BLUE BLOOD. It's a high-speed rock number from 1989, purely Japanese.
*Note: It's X, not X JAPAN.
So, the FRP aero from JOBDESIGN and the one-off carbon lip from MOONTECH are finally completed and ready for installation.
The lower part of the LC’s front bumper isn’t exactly horizontal; it tilts slightly upward. This means that while the aero from JOBDESIGN fits snugly into the recess, attaching the lip normally would cause the tip to tilt upward. I asked if this wouldn't be an issue when the lip is installed.
But, of course, MOONTECH assured me, “We’ve taken that into consideration, so don’t worry,” and they installed it perfectly level with their secret technique. There’s no gap that should normally appear between the JOBDESIGN aero and the lip.
You might be wondering how that’s possible, but it really fits perfectly, as if these two pieces were made as a single kit. It’s truly impressive.
And the side under spoiler, which I had seen countless times online but never in person until now, also comes from JOBDESIGN and was converted to carbon fiber.
The carbonization, rather than painting, resulted in a sharper finish that honestly looks incredibly cool. It gave the car a supercar-like image that I hadn’t anticipated, making me realize the immense benefits of carbonization.
But...
The installation manual for this side spoiler suggested using double-sided tape and caulking. Is that really secure? Won't it fall off at high speeds?
While I was worrying about that, the stock side was already being removed.
“Just attaching it isn’t enough. If it falls off and hits the car behind, it would be disastrous. We need to ensure it’s safely and securely installed to look the best. Aero parts require that much thought in their installation.”
And the side spoiler, if installed normally, would tilt slightly upward towards the back. I was wondering how to keep it level...
You guessed it. They also installed this one with their secret technique, making it perfectly level. They adjusted it to ensure no misalignment, resulting in a fit and strength that look like a genuine OEM option.
I felt the priority Taguchi-san places on aero parts installation and the skill of mechanic Arai-san in making that a reality.
As a bonus, or rather a major fix, they resolved the inward tilt of the front tires caused by a problematic bracket in the LC’s inner structure, which limited how much the tires could be pushed out.
Noticing this, they made the necessary adjustments, solving the issue that plagued stance LCs. The front looked more muscular, fulfilling my previous request for a perfectly tight fit.
I couldn’t contain my excitement even before picking up the car. It felt like delivery day all over again.
After nearly five years of the same appearance, my car now has the best form I could imagine.
The car was completed four days before the day of the pre-event setup for WEKFEST. Despite my various and demanding requests, MOONTECH promised to have it ready for WEKFEST and delivered on that promise, presenting it in top condition.
Next time, we’ll head to WEKFEST with the newly completed LC.
