I got a set of the Philips Vision LED 3157 red tail/stop lights last week off Amazon for under $25.

I've tried 2 other off brand, ok call them El cheapos, both were dual action but the difference between tail/brake intensity was a joke, might as well just pull out the brake light switch 'cause I was going to get rear ended some night.

Philips say's the Vision line of LED's meet's DOT regs and SAE specs and are road legal, and the first to be. They have a 12 year warranty, you have to register them online through the Vision products link at the bottom of Philips automotive lighting page.

Being a replacement, it was a no brainer putting them in, they are polarity based so check them before you put it all together, if one or both don't work, flip them.

These are a rear firing LED, they use the tail light assemblies reflector, so they are not super bright like a rear and side firing LED tail light. They are 2W but Philips doesn't list lumen, I'd say they are a bit brighter then incandescent's in both tail and brake light, the bake lights light up the curb 20' behind the truck.
They do get your attention though seeing they are instant on as LEDs are. Using the reflector as the do they fill the tail light lens nice and evenly, no hot spot.

I tried to get a shot of the brake lights but I couldn't get to the brake peddle before my phone hit the ground, must be getting slow in my old age, here's the tails though.
