4.2 Aftermarket Carb Blowback Fix

For those of us running aftermarket Carbs and the 6" Chrome air cleaner and paper filter with the Breather Cap on the Valve cover, if you notice that you get a lot of oil blowback onto the valve cover (and the fine coating of dust and grime along with the accompanying annoying oil smell in the cab). I may have a fix for you.

Old Setup

I found a 9" Air cleaner with an outlet for the fresh air intake, the correct valve cover elbow and grommet, about 14" of 3/8th's ID tubing and good to go.

Proform 66815 Air Cleaner

Crown Automotive J3236685 PCV Valve Elbow for 81-90 Jeep CJ & Wrangler YJ with 4.2L Engine and 84-90 Cherokee XJ & Comanche MJ with 2.5L Engine (Qtec $2.00) Available elsewhere for 3x cost.

New Setup

Usually I get just enough oil film to collect a nice layer of dust all throughout the engine compartment. After this lateat Mod i ram about 200 mi on the freeway with a 45 mi trail ride following a couple guys that kick up enough to cover me and the entire jeep in dust.

These pics were taken just after I got back and the only oil in the bay was from a couple dribbles from the oil fill cap which I have yet been able to find an appropriate gasket to stop. The only dust collected was a few pockets in corners where there was a barrier to collect it.
Just throwing this out there in case it helps anyone.
