A long while back I posted in a thread for help to remove my unused A/C compressor because it was a pain to get to the #1 spark plug. I was looking for the factory bracket that holds the idler pulley to take the place of the compressor pulley. The 4.2 was odd enough that there just that many available and the used one I found was $150 for the bracket alone. So I fabbed one up "Bubba Style" out of a ford take up pulley I got off ebay for $25. Which has worked well for the last few years but hen the bearing in the pulley started to go this winter it was time to finish the delete.

Then a couple years later I found that a 4.0 with the thermostat housing set for a temp sensor has a smaller outlet bulb making room to fit the serp belt underneath eliminating the need for the Idler pulley.

So the quick housing swap and shorter new belt $40 later I finally got around to eliminating that pulley, and having one less bearing to worry about.

I am now a belt sizing expert after learning how to decipher the 4 different ways to identify a serp belt size. LOL
