ok, so I keep seeing people complain about flowmasters and their drone. I have had 6 of them on 5 different vehicles (70 series on 88 suburban with tbi 350, 50 series and 40 series on 98 Tahoe, 40 series on a jeep wrangler 2.5L and 4.0L, 40 series on a 96 Cherokee with 4.0, and now a 40 series on an 01 suburban 5.3). in all these vehicles, I have never had a drone, and on my current suburban (as well as all the vehicles except the wrangler which turns over 2500 rpm on the hwy), I cant hear it at all on the highway. I should add that I am only 32 years old and get hearing tested every year at work and have far better than average hearing.

this leads to my question....do pickups just naturally drone worse than an suv due to body geometry? is there some magic anti drone fairy that is standard on suvs? If anything, I would have expected that pickups would be quieter since the exhaust tip is so far from the passenger compartment rather than underneath it like an suv
