2012 Silvrerado LTZ 4x4 6 speed HD tow package
After much debate and research I bought some Bilstein 5100's to firm up my suspension and level my truck. I don't plan on towing anything and wanted to lose the hard factory stance and nose diving while braking.
Ordered 4 Bilstein 5100's from Autoplicity.com
Name Price Quantity Total
Bilstein 24-186940 46mm Monotube Shock Absorber
SKU: BIL-24186940 $97.89 2 $195.78
Bilstein 24-186957 46mm Monotube Shock Absorber
SKU: BIL-24186957 $75.30 2 $150.60
Sub-Total: $346.38
Shipping: $16.00
Order Total: $362.38
Did get 20% off shipping after I contacted them. I did not get my coupon code in before completing the order. 20% off shipping applied= $3.20, so new total = $359.18
Dealer installed all 4 shocks. They quoted me $200, but that was a mistake and only covered fronts. All 4 installed, front end alignment and headlight check & adjustment + tax = total -10% coupon= $425.07
($297.50 front & rear + $89.95 alignment + $37.62 tax) = 425.07 plus another $40 for my rental car and $16 for insurance.
Conclusion: Can definitely tell the difference getting in and out of the truck. Also when driving, the view is noticeably higher. Braking is better with no nose dive. And suspension is firmer as is the steering. In a good way though. Total spent = $784.25 Worth every penny in my opinion! Still has a little rake and that's ok with me.
Cons: None so far other than I had to flash my tune to stock and back. Now I gotta put some miles back on for my tune. But I had to get my factory paid for oil change anyway, so it's all good!
**The pictures below are in my driveway, so measurements may be off a little due to grade of driveway. The one picture is in a level (I think?) parking lot.**
