So I decided I wanted to add an amp and sub to my 2012 Silverado with the Bose premium system. I found some nice used equipment from a member of my gun board. My friend had bought a new truck and this stuff didn't work for his new truck.
Problem: Sub box is the wrong color and it was made by super crew sound for a F*rd. The box is tan and my truck has the ebony interior.

So I asked my landlord to help me. My friend and landlord Terry used to build high end hot rod interiors. Think..Good guys shows. The cars you see inside and sometimes outside that have the really nice interiors..that was the stuff he did. I documented the process to show how it was done and to give you some inspiration. There were a lot of great tricks that Terry showed me.
First step was to remove the sub and line input. Next was to rip off the tan stuff. We modified the box to fit better in my truck. That basically involved sanding one leg down a little. Then we sanded the whole box to remove any remaining glue and fuzz.We decided to add some bow ties to personalize the box. This was done using some 1/4" closed cell foam. I used a hitch cover to trace a shape into the foam. Size was perfect for my box.

Material = $12 included speaker wire for inside box. Could have bought half the material -$5/foot(material was about 55" wide) Foam was free and supplied by Terry.
Spray Adhesive = $19 Lots left over for other projects
Time = Precious! Without Terry's experience this would not have looked so great and would've took way longer!
If my box ever gets stolen it will be easy to identify. Box looks great and didn't take but a few hours to do. Hope this inspires someone and gives you a few ideas how to do it yourself. Thanks for reading my post!
