My New Michelin LTX MS2's

Wheels Upgrade / Tires written by @dav2no1 LTZ 4X4,w/ 5.3- Crew Cab. (Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2012)

When I bought my truck last December I knew I would need some new tires before this winter. My truck has OEM 18" wheels that were wrapped in some Firestone Destination tires 265/65/R18. They rode ok, but were a little bit of a hard ride. This was possibly due to them being down in tread.

I was going to wait a little longer, but 2 factors came into play. First off Michelin has a small rebate right now. And the real deciding factor...a big chunk went missing from my tire sidewall! I don't remember pissing any ladies off ...not in awhile anyways..haha I believe that I may have hit a pot hole recently and this was the result.

I am a Costco member and they were advertising $70 rebate for the Michelins. I stopped in the tire center and got a quote. They do not do alignments at Costco. My dealer price matches and is one of the largest tire installers in the area. That's saying a lot because there are a lot of companies around here.

To my surprise, my dealer agreed to price match Costco. A lot of companies will not. The price per tire was $215.99(265/65/R18) and $90 for alignment. Additionally Michelin offers a $50 (mail in/online)rebate through the dealer. Costco had a $70 Michelin rebate that I had mentioned to my service guy. He reduced my bill by $20 to make up the difference. Pretty nice guy huh?

First thoughts...I believe it added a little height to the truck vs the worn Firestones. The ride is way softer and quieter. Brakes also seem to work faster. I did a lot of reading before purchasing these tires. Other members seemed to love these tires and now I know why. I don't do any off roading at the moment, so I didn't need AT tires. Tread pattern should work just fine for our light winters here.
