Did an oil change back in December and while waiting for the oil to drain, I was checking out the bottom half of the engine. I noticed two separate oil leaks, with one being worse than the other. The first one was at the timing chain cover right by the power steering pump. This one wasn’t bad but there was oil residue there. The second leak was at the transmission to engine mount area. This one was worse.
My wife complained of a rattle noise from the front end so I took it to the dealership to have them check it out along with the leaks I found. They replaced the front sway bar end links, the lower control arm bushings and the rear shocks, all under warranty, but said the leaks weren’t bad at this time.
Fast forward to Monday and I took the Acadia to another GM dealer in town and they diagnosed it as the oil pan gasket leaking. $2800 repair, only costing me $7.89 for the oil filter. Thank God I bought that extended warranty.
