Putting the Question of Molded Splash Guards w/ 18" Wheels to Rest

Okay, kids. If you've been following my other thread about the suitability of the GM molded splash guards P/N's 19170964 (F) and 17800979 (R) for Gen8's with 18" wheels, you already know that there has been an ongoing question in the minds of some regarding interference issues. My 2016 LTZ is equipped with 18" wheels and 235/50 tires, and I can now state categorically that there are certainly no fitment issues on my car. Not even close. Let's walk through my installation step by step ...

Here are a couple pics of the front and rear kits showing the splash guards from different angles:

Although both the front and rear kits include the same # K2014 fastener
packs, the fasteners install in different locations in the front vs. the
rear.

The installation instructions include a Tools list, including a drill
and 3/32" bit, a hammer, and a center punch. You don't need any of
those. Aside from tools to remove and reinstall the wheels if you intend
to do so (STRONGLY recommended), the tools shown below are all you
need:

The tool list doesn't call a trim fastener tool, but I found it handy to
have one, since one 2-piece trim fastener must be removed from each
wheel well. Just sayin'. Also, you're NOT making any holes in sheet
metal, only plastic. Soft plastic at that, so I just used an awl to make
my pilot holes. A quick pop with the heel of my palm on the handle of
the awl was all that was needed to make nice pilot holes wherever I
needed them (2 at each corner).

Here's what the left front looked like from the inside after installing the splash guard:

See that lip on the left side in the above photo? It sticks into the wheel well farther than the fasteners to its right. That was a really good omen going in. :) The instructions will tell you that hex head bolt next to the rib is 7mm. It isn't. At least it wasn't on my car. All the hex head fasteners are 9/32". Just sayin.

And this is how the guard looks from the back side after installation:

Now, for the money shots. What's the clearance, Clarence? Below are
photos of the left front with the wheel/tire assembly reinstalled. The
first is with the wheel straight ahead, the second is with the wheel cut
hard right, and the third is with the wheel turned left to the point of
closest proximity to the splash guard. See? Not even close to rubbing:

Next, a couple photos of the left rear splash guard from front and back after installation:

And here's a shot of the resulting clearance after reinstalling the wheel/tire assembly:

Finally, a couple shots of the finished project ...

Gotta love the way the molded guards hug the body curvature, eh? I had been trying to decide whether or not to paint these things, but I really like the contrast of the black guards against the white body, so I think I'll leave them unpainted.

Okay, are we now all in agreement that the molded splash guards will indeed fit an Impala with 18" wheels? I certainly hope so. :)
