So, I, in my amazing intelligence (sarcasm), decided to experiment with different CAI setups since there is a whole bunch of claims from manufacturers that "theirs is best."

This is not a brand comparison but, i think atleast, will punch holes in some CAI myths.

Stock tb and no tune. K&N filter.

2.5" SR Performance

Safe, no problems. Basically a fancy stock pipe

4" through and dropped to tb

Lean condition. Luffed and died

4"pipe, 2 7/8" (id) maf tube

Lean condition. Luffed and died

3" pipe, 2 7/8" (id) maf tube, 4" into filter

Lean condition. Luffed and died

3" pipe all through, 2 7/8" maf tube

Lean condition. Luffed and died.

3"piping, stock maf (2 5/8" id)

Runs beautiful, no codes

Conclusion: if it is a "no tune" intake you're going to run a stock maf tube size. Don't waste your money because a bigger pipe is just a bigger pipe, and even the bbk drops the sample tube size to stockish
Mic drop. Solution given. Money saved.
