Audi TT with legendary 1.9TDI. Why not?

Performance Modifications / Engine Swap written by @AudiPassion

Audi never brought the TT TDI to North America, but one determined enthusiast decided to change that by creating their own custom build. They started with a 2003 Audi TT Quattro and transformed it into a diesel powerhouse by swapping out the factory turbocharged 1.8L inline-four engine for a turbocharged 1.9L ASZ (PD130) diesel inline-four from a 2003 VW Golf GTD.

The modified diesel engine boasts impressive enhancements, including a Colt Cams Stage 2 camshaft, black nitrided lifters, BEW injectors fitted with Bosio Power Plus 1043 DLC PD nozzles, and a 42 Draft Designs exhaust system. These upgrades push the engine's performance to an exhilarating 180 hp and a whopping 340 lb-ft of torque.

The builder retained the TT's six-speed manual transmission but fortified it with a DRW gearset, Sachs clutch and flywheel, and a Neuspeed short shift kit for smoother and faster gear changes. The Quattro all-wheel-drive system was also upgraded with heavy-duty front axles to handle the increased power and torque.

Car Categories Involved in the Modifications:

Audi TT Quattro (2003) - The base car used for the project.

VW Golf GTD (2003) - Donor car for the 1.9L ASZ (PD130) diesel engine.

This custom TT TDI is a testament to the creativity and passion of Audi enthusiasts who push the boundaries of what their favorite cars can achieve.
