Ian G is passionate about driving and working on Audi and Volkswagen vehicles. He’s done several engine swaps, including those on an Audi S3 and TT Mk1, which inspired him to build his dream car.

It all started when Ian bought a second-generation Audi TT (8J). The car originally came with a 2.0 L inline-four (BWA) engine, delivering 197 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque, and front-wheel drive. But Ian had bigger plans.
He swapped out the inline-four for a powerful 3.6 L VR6 from an R36 Passat B6 wagon, boosting the car to 300 hp and 266 lb-ft. To handle this power, he replaced the factory front-wheel-drive drivetrain with an AWD Quattro system from a TT with a 3.2 L VR6. Although he kept the stock DQ250 transmission for now, Ian plans to switch to a manual transmission in the future.

For better handling, Ian installed KW adjustable coilovers, a Mk3 steering rack, and a SuperPro 26 mm sway bar in the rear. He also upgraded the braking system with rebuilt Brembo 17z six-piston calipers and 330 mm rotors, typically found on a Porsche Cayenne or VW Touareg of the same era.
Ian recently added a 3-inch catback exhaust with a valve that allows him to control the exhaust sound using a smartphone app or keyfob.
