NV3500 Swap Started! Soon To Be Finished & Driving!

Performance Modifications / Transmission Swap written by @96ZJ318 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee (Jeep Grand Cherokee 1999)

Ok, So I finally started my NV3500 Swap into my 5.2 ZJ and I can't be any more excited! :D

I haven't posted in a while because I've been picking up the necessary parts over the past 2 months and didn't want to say anything til I was absolutely ready and now I'm almost halfway done with it!

I actually went ahead and for $800 bought a whole 96 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport (regular cab, short-bed) that was salvaged due to a rear-end accident for most of the parts. The Ram only has 109,418 miles on it! :D Lucky! This gave me the following:

NV3500 Transmission and T-case (I'm getting a new clutch, pilot bearing, and throwout bearing anyway)

Manual 5.2 Flywheel

Manual Crank Sensor for 5.2

Clutch Master, Line, and Slave

Dodge 5.2 Starter

Manual ECU for 5.2

Shift Handles for Transmission and T-case with Boot

My local junkyard asked $900 for just the Transmission (no shifters or boot). I Got a whole truck for less!

Parts I bought for the rest of the swap:

Sent out the Dodge's ECU to B&G Chrysler for a re-flash so it will communicate with the ZJ's instrument cluster and they're tuning it to get maximum power out of my built 5.2 Magnum

Heddman center-dump headers for 318 Chrysler SB (already test-fitted them so we're good there) to make room for the starter relocating to the driver side of the engine

New OEM clutch, throwout bearing, and pilot bearing

Actually Found A Pedal Assembly From A 5-speed ZJ With Clutch and Brake Pedals in a junkyard in FL. They should get here by Monday then I'll finish this and drive my soon to be 5 speed 5.2L ZJ!
