Hello, recently purchases the Curt hitch since I wanted to put bike rack or luggage rack in the back.

Watched this vid:

I won't be posting any step by step here. I don't have a lift, so I used the Gorilla Ramps and backed the car onto it, gave me plenty of clearance when laying down on the garage floor.

I did the installation myself with zero help, and the key to doing that are:

1. Use WD40 and spray it on the hangar/rubber grommet for the muffler. I only dropped one grommet as I didn't see much of a difference if I did both like the etrailer video.
2. Use a hydraulic jack to lift the other side. This helped greatly because it's like having another person holding onto the other side.
3. Use a block of some kind to hold onto the middle.
4. Install on the muffler side FIRST: you'll need to route the hitch over the muffler, then secure one of the nut by hand and work on the other side.
5. The instructions for cutting the plastic tray on the other side is a bit off IMO so my suggestion is to cut it about half an inch less than stated and trim from there if you are OCD about this.

On a final note: torque spec says 60lb/in for the nuts and I wasn't able to do that with the muffler side, so I ended up tightening it as much as I could on two of them. The last nut was really difficult to get to and I had to use a ratcheting wrench.

Since I don't plan on actually towing anything like my RV, I figure it should be fine.

The Curt tow hitch seems to be solidly built, and I'd recommend it. It was about $212 shipped from NAPA's website.
