Acura TLX BRAKE NOISE ISSUE: FIXED!!

So anyone who's having issues with Type S (seems 23 only) TLX and MDX w/Brembo brakes, the brakes rattle when going over bumps. If you followed the "Problem" thread on this, you'd have seen that by applying light brake while going over bumps the issue went away....

So after weeks of research and getting some parts in, and tracking down the EXACT issue...it's fixed!

I did just reach out to my service dept on this, so we'll have an in house fix for it as Acura isn't helping on this one, at all!

Process:

1. Order SBS brake pad shims: Part # 1702003. or SBS 9500-4 pcs. These are thin rubber rectangles of material with sticky backs.

2. Remove brakes: Super easy! Remove the brake line bolt, remove 2 19mm bolts and hang the caliper with a bungie. Drop the pads off of the holders making sure outside and inside are in the right orientation, in case. You only need to do this process on the INSIDE/back brake pad

3. Remove the "spring" that holds the pads in place and bend each tab of that "spring" about 1/8". This puts extra tension on the pads to keep them moving up and down as well.

4. Clean the back of the pads with some alcohol. Wear gloves and DON'T get oils on the pad itself. Let dry.

5. Apply a layer of the rubber SBS on the ENTIRE back of the pad and cut the excess...you'll see as the edges overlap on the one side and bottom. Take that extra material and stick it on top of that so you are 2 layers thick.

6. Replace pads onto caliper making sure they are fully on the pins that hold them. You'll have to be careful and wiggle the caliper a bit as it's going to be a bit tighter than when you removed them.

7. Bolt everything in place and ENJOY a quiet car!

Hope this works for everyone out there as it's a super simple cheap fix and ashame Acura won't help on this.
