Our vehicles come installed with a 124R battery. This leaves little upgrading options. I bought a Gold DieHard 24F and installed it in my Tucson. All it did was involve some cutting and drilling.
Materials that will need to be cut are plastic and 3 mm thick steel.
Disconnect your battery terminals (you can't skip it this time)
Remove the front battery clip.
Remove the smaller lip (to the right in the picture) and lengthen the screw hole toward the larger clip (to the left in the picture) Picture of finished front clip
Remove the old 124R battery with the sleeve. The sleeve can go on the 24F battery. It is a very tight fit so take your time putting it on.
Let's take a look at the rear battery clip.
Remove the sides as shown.
Install new 24F battery with sleeve
Make sure it slides into the rear clip
Install the front clip and torque the screw down tight.
Re-attach the terminals and your new setup should look something like this.
