Two years ago today, I took delivery of a 2021, 2dr Rubicon. It was a retirement gift to myself and ordered at a time when a world wide pandemic began gripping the world. Fortunately, supply chain issues hadn't quite begun and it was purchased in June of 2020 and delivered on September 23, 2020.
I would have received it approximately a week earlier, but it was shipped to the wrong dealership, hundreds of miles away!
Most of us find ourselves here because of an issue or problem with their JL and are seeking advice & help. I joined this forum prior to delivery to learn everything I could about the Jeep Wrangler. I'm a car guy at heart, Past President of a National Car Club and have always wanted to own a Wrangler.
The previous 10yrs I drove a 2010 Jeep Liberty (last generation - the big one) and it made such an impression for comfort and reliability, I chose to stick with the Jeep brand. The Rubicon was built and assembled in Toledo Ohio. Knowing it was "American Made" gave me somewhat of a comfort factor
Simply put and without a word of a lie, I have had absolutely no issues with the Rubicon to date. Fully loaded with every option I desired, there have been no squeaks, rattles, engine issues, electrical issues, loose fuses, trim pieces falling off, paint bubbling or anything else to complain about. I hang out here to hopefully help others and learn as much as possible about the Wrangler.
I chose the V6 and it was one of the first off the line with eTorque. For those that don't know, eTorque is an electric, belt driven motor that aids in low end torque, smooths out the ESS system, improves gas economy and is found on other Stellantis brands like the Dodge Ram.
The problematic 12V Aux battery is not found on eTorque engines but instead has a water-cooled 48V battery that is mounted under the carriage and is warranted for 8yrs. The same battery provides voltage to accessories when the ESS is engaged.
Lastly, being an "old school" guy, I had no time for ESS. The day the Rubicon was brought home, I installed the "Smart ESS" chip and the default is "off". On occasion, I will turn it on just to check that it still works and exercise the system.
Maybe I just got lucky, but I have no regrets purchasing this expensive toy. With one year left of the warranty, I'm anticipating another trouble free year of driving!
