(2001) 5 years without moonroof operation. Finally trying to fix it.

Hey all, thankfully my moon roof is shut, and there have been no leaks for the last 5 years. I do want to get it operational however. I managed to get the motor out. There were three nuts and two screws involved in that, and the motor was a little stuck after those came out, and had to apply pressure to remove it. I wanted to post this in the Exterior & Body category under the Glass,windows & moon roof section, but the last time that forum got any action was 4 days ago.

I checked the brushes, and the screw drive of the the motor. both of those look ok according to the pics below.

The thing that bothers me is the excessive amount of dust/dirt fibers around the motor sprocket and the spline drive in the mechanism.(See pics below) Can anyone tell if that is what could be the problem?

Also, I checked voltage where the power harness is. I checked the RED and BLACK, since they were the thicker wires, assuming they were power and ground, (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong) and got NO voltage reading whatsoever when pressing the open/close button on the overhead console.
