First tow

Upgrades & DIY / Towing & Hauling written by @Gruemeister Volkswagen Atlas 2021

Last week I towed with my Atlas for the first time. I towed a UHaul utility trailer (2,290 lbs empty) and a LSV (low speed vehicle) that weighs 1,400 lbs for a total of 3,690 pounds. Simple ball hitch, I also needed an adapter to connect the trailer lights (4 way). Towed like a champ.

After I did a U turn I got an indicator that said to check the trailer brake light. Sure enough, the 4-way connector had come loose. The side and rear assists were inoperable during towing (as expected). I am not sure about the tongue weight, but I am pretty sure it did not exceed 500 lbs, and there was no squatting or sway of any kind.
