Jeep provides spot to mount aftermarket switch

I am planning to add lights to my a-pillars and I was thinking of where to install the switch on the dash. I am not very wild about drilling a 1" diameter hole in the dash and I do not want one of those a-pillar switch pods as I just need to install one switch.

So I started looking around and I noticed a spot under the steering column that looked like a little round vent built into the dash panel. So I pulled the panel off and I found out that that vent is actually a hole that is there made to be cut out to install a switch.

I looked at round rocker switches and you need a 1" diameter hole for those switches. You an buy these switches for $8 at Autozone. The hole provided in the panel under the steering column is 1" diameter.

You just need a utility knife to cut off the little plastic pieces that go across the opening and the hole will be opened. There are even mounting tabs behind this hole so that you can mount a switch right to the dash behind this panel.
