Picked up Jeep from shop on Friday. New Yukon 4.56 gears and Detroit TruTrac rear.
Shop said 500 mile break in period and change diff fluids at that point.
Now, Eaton says "While Truetrac units do not require a break-in for operation, the gears do “lap” together. While the time required to fully lap the gears will vary depending on driving style and loads, the units will operate smoother with age. "
Now I figured I might as well kinda take it easy on them anyways.
Real question, is how do I break in front gears if I am rarely even in 4H? I get off-road 5-10x a year. So when I do, 500 miles of easy off roading? That will take a long time to break them in and a few months before I even get off road again.
Can't do 4H on the streets so....
