Mirror replacement and footwell lighting research- Footwell lights installed

Interior Upgrade / Interior Lighting written by @chinna Toyota Venza 2021

Finally after long back and forth and picked up my Venza LE, Blue color with Gray interior. I liked LE for the reason it has 18 inch wheels (better ride and cheaper tires too), and has all the features I was looking for. I was never fan of leather interior that much for various reasons(hot/cold, color transfer etc reason), and also didn't see the need for roof rails, 7 inch MID or Dual Led DRL etc.

But, I do miss the Auto-dimming mirror with homelink. For more than Decade+, I did not have a car without this. Ambient lights are not very important, but got used to it in my Tesla, and also might be easier to add. So did some dismantling on my day old car.

In LE model, there is no mirror harness under the cover above the mirror, it only has front ADAS unit and its wiring. I am not sure if there is some wiring under the overhead console. Did not get a chance to open it yet, but I doubt it has any additional wiring there. Please see the attached photos.

I am guessing, there would be +12v and Ground running to overhead console. It may, may not be switched as lights glow on approach. But interior override switch turns on lights, so I have some hope. Worse case scenario, I will run 12v from a switched source along the liner. If someone already pulled out the overhead console, please share any tips/tricks/photos to remove that safely.

I am thinking, I will install Gentex 453 model, something like this Gentex-453 HomeLink Rear View Mirror Auto Dim Honda Toyota | eBay
Hopefully, the mount arm does not cause any issues. Also, I want to keep the HomeLink working only when ignition on. This avoids the dangers are thief's having access to garage also when they break-in into the car.

For footwell, I thought I will check if it is easy to add foot well lights, also Glove box lights. Not having glove box lights felt weird too as I don't remember a car in recent times without one. I generally do not like tacky glue-on/stickon lights. I want to keep anything I do as close to OEM as possible. There is a connector above the passenger foot well cover(look at 5th and 6th photo) and it has two wires. Not sure what those are used for and if they have switcher power or not(haven't gotten a chance to check with multimeter yet). Also it seems there is a hole that might fit footwell LED used in RAV4.

These are the things for now I want to pursue. Appreciate tips/tricks from anyone who might has dealt with these on Venza LE.

One general observation, there is good insulation in the foot well area, including above the footwell, and also somekind of foam rubber material in front. Hoping if this level of insulation is there everywhere and this will provide some good sound insulation and car would not be quiet.

Edit: Also front wheel wells are damped very well, definitely compared to my Tesla.. :) Also front bumper corner air vents infact relieve low pressure in front wheel well area during high speed. That vents are actually open, and there are two oval hole in the wheel well liner for the air to enter the wheel well. That smoothens the airflow around the vehicle and reduce the drag. Similar vents are there in Tesla also.

With snow piled around, did not get a chance to take it for good test drive. One thing that certainly bothered me was the Noise they added at low speed when running on battery.

Other things in general I am looking for Seat Covers(Cloth), Bumper, hood PPF at reasonable price. Appreciate all the help. Thanks in advance.
